ARTPOP 2017

posted: 11. 15. 17 I had to opportunity to create a logo for birdwatching tourism service Viajando y Pajareando based in Colima, Mexico. The logo depicts a Military Macaw, a large, beautiful species that can be seen (if you're fortunate) in Colima, and a favorite of tour guide Oveth Fuentes.

posted: 11. 02. 17 4X4CLT is Charlotte Center for Literary Arts' quarterly series of posters showcasing writers and artists. The latest edition will premiere December 4th and feature writer Beth Ann Fennelly, the Poet Laureate of Mississippi, with art by painter Gabrielle Wolf and myself. There will be a release party December 1 at Resident Culture 7 - 9 pm.

TRAFFIC CIRCLES AT OPEN STREETS 704
posted: 10. 17. 17 I designed and helped paint some colorful traffic circles with Julio Gonzalez and various community members for a recent Open Streets 704 event. We applied tape to the road to form the designs, and then passersby painted them in. They will be visible at the corner of Irby / Jameston, and Castlewood / Belrose.

SOUTHEND VERSES
posted: 10. 08. 17 Southend Verses is a quarterly collaboration facilitated by C3 Lab in which an artist / writer pair works to create a piece of public art to be displayed outside the C3 Lab facility. I was chosen for the 2017 fouth quarter collab and worked with poet Marquis Love on the piece below, which will be installed through the end of the year.

posted: 08. 24. 17 My new painting "Bird Window 7" was shown recently at the 2017 Hummingbird Festival and snagged enough votes from festival goers to earn a first place ribbon. The painting is now for sale at Ruby's Gift in NoDa. 
BIRMINGHAM COWFISH OPEN
posted: 08. 19. 17 The Cowfish's new Birmingham, Alabama location is open. I built a series of custom Lego sculptures for the restaurant, and created the wall art featuring parodies of fine art and pop culture. This is my fifth collaboration with The Cowfish, joining locations in Charlotte, Raleigh, Orlando, and Atlanta.

posted: 06. 25. 17 Here's a photo of a newly finished large commissioned painting I did for a couple in my neighborhood. The piece is called "Study for American Landscape" and is the successor of an earlier work called "Study for a North Carolina Landscape".

posted: 06. 12. 17 The Underground Truffle is a new local artisanal chocolate maker which uses natural, carefully selected ingredients. Esa asked me to design artwork for the packaging based on imagery she collected in Coasta Rica.   
BIRD GENOSCAPE PROJECT
posted: 05. 29. 17 I was commissioned by UCLA's Bird Genoscape Project to design a logo and produce a series of illustrations featuring migratory birds. The Bird Genoscape Project studies migratory patterns of birds using genomics. It was an exciting opportunity and a privelege for me to be involved with this important and groundbreaking reseach effort. See the illustration series here. 
ANOTHER LOST PAINTING RESURFACES
posted: 05. 29. 17 A 2004 painting of mine titled "Pipe" disappeared under mysterious circumstances over ten years ago, after having hung in a restaurant in Cornelius, North Carolina. I made quite a few calls trying to recover it, and other paintings, before giving it up for lost. Recently, however, it turned up in a local Goodwill store and was purchased by noted memorabilia collector Wade Jones, who posted it on eBay, where I happened to find it through an unlikely stroke of luck (I was googling myself). Wade was kind enough to return the piece to me after I messaged him to explain the picture's origins. 
EASTLAND: SOMETHING NEW

posted: 04. 09. 17 I created artwork for Dragonfly Chai's upcoming package redesign. The new designs should be going to print soon and will look something like the picture below. I also created artwork for the parent company, Kinglet, which should find its way onto bottles as well this year. 
KINGFISHER PRINTING
posted: 04. 09. 17 I created a kingfisher logo based on one of my illustrations for Kingfisher Printing, a new screen printing company based in Biloxi, Mississippi. Matt Gilbert created the text for the logo. 
HAYLO EXHIBIT
updated: 04. 04. 17 My show "With The Rising Sun" opened April 1, at Haylo Healing Arts Lounge, and was a great success thanks to the Haylo staff, DJ Tober, and everyone who stopped in, as well as Birdsong Brewing who provided beer.

STUDENT ZEBRA ART PROJECT
posted: 03. 20. 17 Elementary school art teacher Katie Allain (@mrsallainart) of Pinewood Intermediate School in NY incorporated my zebra design into a recent class project and posted this image on Instagram showing some of the students' work so far. Pretty cool! 
LOST PAINTING RECOVERED
updated: 02. 09. 17 I ran into a couple at Birdsong Brewing tonight who had happened upon one of my old paintings in the attic of their house. After doing some research, they identified the artist, but years went by before they met me and told me how the painting had mysteriously turned up. Naturally I was fascinated and happy to hear that they like the piece much more (apparently) than the previous owner and consider it a fortuituous addition to their art collection.

GALLERY TWENTY-TWO FEBRUARY SHOW
posted: 02. 09. 17 I'll be exhibiting paintings this month at Gallery Twenty-Two along with other artists including Rodney Raines, Nick Bloomberg, and Henry Schreiber.
